Hi :)
I'm Marina Germain, creative free spirit from the south of Lower Saxony.
I have been working as a media designer for 30 years in various fields.
I started my own business in the fall of 2019 (ella works media design). Six months before the pandemic that caused me to look beyond my professional ...
The origin of the YUNIKBOX
I had the idea for the YUNIKBOX ® at the beginning of 2021. My brother had just passed away and we were looking for a suitable urn. I had never chosen an urn for someone myself before.
At the funeral home, the selection was manageable and I wondered why all the decorative urns had the same shape. The motifs and colors were also rather monotonous and boring and I thought that this could not actually be in 2021.
A short time later, I seriously considered the topic of burial and decorative urn. Thereby I had a precise idea of how I wanted to implement the whole thing. It should not be a typical urn, there were already enough of them. And it should not be immediately recognizable as an urn, but rather as a kind of art object. If it looks nice, you could use it for other purposes and even put it in your home. An art object on the living room shelf. This was followed by the idea of storing one's personal belongings in the YUNIKBOX® during one's lifetime in the function of a decorative box, which then only becomes an urn at the end of life.
The material and the two shapes of the YUNIKBOX® were decided relatively quickly - a round and a square version, made of cardboard, so easy to paint and biodegradable. After I had painted the first two boxes myself (Vincent and Otto&Karl), I quickly realized that this takes much more time and effort than a conventionally painted picture. Thereupon I looked for a print shop that can produce biodegradable stickers to have my next self-painted motifs printed on biodegradable stickers to attach them to the box blanks. This is how the first 10 print motifs were created: the HOPE and the RAINBOW series.
I would like to keep bringing new motifs onto the market in order to reach as many people as possible who are looking for something out of the ordinary. And above all, who want to find the right decorative box and/or urn for themselves or their loved one.
I also take requests and ideas from you.
