What is an decorative urn?
Crematoria use an ash capsule as standard for the human remains after cremation of a deceased person. This is usually made of polystyrene and is plain black with a silver lid. At the funeral services, this ash capsule is then placed in a decorative urn, which is usually chosen by the relatives of the deceased.
Funeral directors often have a repertoire of decorative urns and offer the bereaved the opportunity to choose an urn that suits the deceased. Funeral homes are obliged to accept decorative urns from other manufacturers as well.
If your YUNIKBOX is not available at the funeral home of your choice, you can also order it directly here and then hand it over to the funeral director.
The decorative urn should ...
... have the right dimensions for the ash capsule and the funeral opening.
... be made of a material that can decay within the period of rest.
... ideally have a sinking strap (for lowering into the burial opening).
The YUNIKBOX® fulfils all the requirements of an decorative urn and at the same time does not look like an typical decorative urn.
What does the YUNIKBOX® look like?
The YUNIKBOX® is available in two shapes:
• Square box: 27 cm (height), 19 x 19 cm
• Round box: 27 cm (height), ø 20 cm
These dimensions are important so that the YUNIKBOX® can also be used as an art urn.
YUNIKBOX® blanks are made of carton, white or black and are built by hand (custom made).
There are originals that are hand painted. The HOPE and RAINBOW series are prints from
hand-painted artwork.
Lowering strap: For the function as a decorative urn, the YUNIKBOX® is provided with a lowering strap, which is located in the upper third of the box and can be pulled out of the box on the right and left. With the lowering strap, the YUNIKBOX® can be lowered into the funeral opening at the funeral without any other aids.
The lowering strap is a round leather strap with a diameter of 2 mm, the length of which can be selected when ordering (2 m or 4 m). Depending on the function, the YUNIKBOX® can also be ordered without the lowering strap if desired. The color matches the respective design.
What material is the YUNIKBOX® made of?
The YUNIKBOX® is biodegradable: handmade from carton and painted with casein emulsion water-based paint or glued with an organic sticker.
What does the name YUNIKBOX® mean?
The name YUNIKBOX is made up of the words "unique" and "box".
What do I have to consider when using the YUNIKBOX®?
As a decorative or storage box: please do not put any liquids in it.
As an art urn: Before the funeral, the lowering strap should be placed on top of the ash capsule before closing the YUNIKBOX®. At the funeral, the funeral director will pull the lowering strap out of the YUNIKBOX® to the right and left, lowering it into the funeral opening.
Please inform your funeral director about the dimensions of the YUNIKBOX®.
The YUNIKBOX® is a custom-made product and cannot be exchanged.
